Evening Picnic at Easton BaventsThis part of the Suffolk coast has been subject to severe erosion over the past few decades. It's extremely sad that people's homes are literally being lost to the sea, or demolished before the coastline engulfs them. I wanted to reframe this slightly and show this home in a different light, despite the sadness. These four friends enjoy a picnic, looking on to this bleak but beautiful ruin, whilst enjoying a magical sunset.

Pink and BlueFlowers
Initially I was just painting the vases of pink flowers, but then felt the cornflowers must play a part too- and a central role at that. This is a cheerful still life and pink and blue are such complementary colours.

Somehow I feel this composition really works. The central colour of the peonies matches the lemons and I intentionally painted the background in dark shades, so as to accentuate the contrast between the beautiful pink petals and the yellow lemons.
